Tailings Containment in Chile
Project: Codelco Copper Mine, Andina Division
Application:HDPE geomembrane for mining tailings storage.
Challenge: Acidic tailings with high sulfur ontent causing corrosion.
Solution:
●2.0mm HDPE liner with anti-corrosion additives.
●Reinforced with geogrids to withstand ground movement.
Outcome: Prevented 2 million cubic meters of toxic waste leakage annually.
